Good post

I’m torn on this kind of post. Because while I love it when people do stuff for the homeless, it kind of seems like they’re doing it for themselves. True charity is anonymous.

Fuck that. Charity is charity. If you’re starving on the street you’re not gonna give two fucks if you’re asked for a selfie after a guy gives you $50 and a homemade lunch.
I do charitable shit all the time but I’m too scared to talk about it because people like you call it humblebragging and stuff.
Brag about it, even if you’re only doing good things to get attention you’re still helping people holy shit

Talking about good things you’ve done encourages others to do good things. Humans are a social species, and no matter how much people want to stand out and be unique, there will always be that bit of encouragement to be had in what other people are doing. By spreading around that people are doing something kind, or that you’re doing something kind, it jumpstarts the idea in others’ minds that ‘Oh, hey, I could also do something like this!’

People brag about being douchebags all the time. It’s nice to see people bragging about the opposite.

tbh I often think that people who have something negative to say about every charitable act- especially ‘people only do good things to feel good about themselves! there’s no such thing as true altruism!’- say those things as an excuse / explanation not to do anything good
