the lgbt community has a big problem with ignoring the the people who came before them.
in the 70s, a lot of lgbt people who were older criticized the younger lgbt people for being insensitive to people who lived before stonewall (example: calling radical gay/homophile groups like the mattachine society or the daughters of bilitis useless or liberal for not being as confrontational, even though they were being threatened with murder every day).
and a lot of lgbt people who survived the AIDS crisis are criticising the younger generation for being insensitive to them (example: minimizing the oppression that gay men face, or using the concept of “allosexual privilege” to say that gay men are privileged for their sexuality).
and already young people are acting like same-sex marriage does not really matter. some young lgbt people do not remember when a gay couple being married was unimaginable.
