The latest elections in Honduras, which the left-wing candidate was probably winning until the incumbent-appointed voting commission declared the data lost and the incumbent the winner. The government has in turn responded by turning US-trained troops on protesters, marking in some ways a repeat of the US-orchestrated 2009 coup in the country. 

Although the US state will probably never change its fundamental behavior, plausibly Honduras is small fry enough that yelling at your representative, if you live in the US, can discourage this kind of thing on the margin, although of course in the grand scheme of things if you’re not a Honduran trade unionist there’s not much you can do to affect the long-term balance of power.
