Right so this lady was smart, if you’re ever in a sedan-style trunk there’s a little pull tab that you can use to get yourself out that is STANDARD in cars built after 2001. It’s the law just like headlights and seatbelts.
if you are in an SUV style vehicle or newer model car you may be able to find the automatic trunk release wire, pull on it, it will pop the trunk
if you can’t find any of that stuff, look for the brake light housing. You will need to pull back the trunk carpeting and feel about. It’s probably bolted in, but some careful wiggling will dislodge it. If people see a goddamn arm waving out of a hole in a car while they poke along I-95 they likely will do something about it
Reblog to save a life….
I can’t help but laugh at the fact that the handle is an exact description of what she did
Lemme chill because my previous comment was distasteful.

Another note: In most cars, this little handle will be GLOW IN THE DARK! However, it might not always be, or it might not have received enough sunlight to glow. So if you possibly can, FEEL AROUND. It’s almost guaranteed to be the only thing like it back there, but PULL HARD on ANYTHING you can feel, especially toward the back end of the car!!
It would probably be a good idea to pull the handle at the same time as you GRAB THE TRUNK LID, so you can hold it down until you feel the car slow or come to a stop, just so you don’t kill yourself jumping (or God forbid falling!) out onto the highway OR so you don’t alert the driver that the trunk is open!! HOWEVER, if you do open that motherfucker when you’re driving down the highway, and the person behind you sees somebody in the trunk of a fucking car, they WILL call the police, and they’ll also most likely follow the car you’re in until they know you’re safe! I know for an indisputable fact that I would, no matter what else I was supposed to be doing, and so would everyone else I know. And even if the driver did notice the trunk, if they know people have seen you or if somebody is watching, they’re MUCH less likely to do something crazy.
And YES YES YES. Most brake light housings WILL push or knock out fairly easily, or at least break, if you can push, twist, wiggle, or even punch or kick it. And YOU WILL BE SAVED if you go waving your arm out that hole. No decent human being could ever ignore something like a break light suddenly flying out and a fucking HUMAN ARM emerging, and most people will go out of their way to help a person in distress.
TRY to be quiet, if you can, but in all seriousness getting somebody else to notice you is far more important than the driver, especiallyif you’re on a highway or somewhere busy.
Listen carefully for cars driving around you, because that’s a far better bet than a quiet street, and wave frantically at them – waving frantically is really the only universal signal for OMG HELP ME! – and IF YOU CAN MANAGE, try – IF YOU CAN – to keep your hands away from the sides of the vehicle, where the driver could see your arm waving himself. You wouldn’t want to alert the driver that you’re freeing yourself too early, otherwise it’s possible they could stop and come back to restrain you, or even knock you out, before you can get to safety. If you’re sure there are cars around you, though, it’s best to just go for it.
And if you can’t do anything like the above, just do your best to PAY ATTENTION TO THE CAR. Hopefully you could at least see the color of it, but if not, you may be able to tell the color from some visible paint inside the trunk, if you can get some light or if some shines in through the lights. You may not be able to, but that’s okay too. Pay attention to WHAT THE CAR IS DOING. Listen for the sounds of trains or boats, echoes from tunnels or bridges, construction, any other noteworthy sounds. Concentrate on the feel of the road, for noteworthy bumps or textures in the road, patterns like going over jointed bridges or train tracks, things like that. Try, if you can concentrate on it, to note the directions you’ve turned and maybe even count them if you can, feel if you went a long or short time in any direction, ANYTHING you can get hold of with your other senses. Especially listen and feel for landmarksyou may be familiar with, like if a certain shop in your town always plays a jingle or announcements outside, or there’s construction on a new bridge or intersection that’s really bumpy or has those huge iron plates in the road, if there’s a loud fountain, a particularly long red light, whatever you can think of! Do your best to commit what you sense to memory, or at least keep track of the most significant things. That way, in the event you can get to a phone or escape on your own, you can have SOME idea of where you are to relate to whoever you can get ahold of.
The odds of something like this happening to you are slim, but it’s good to ALWAYS REMEMBER THESE FACTS ANYWAY, just in case.
If you have a car, esp a 2001 or newer model, GO LOOK IN YOUR TRUNK NOW – no, NOW – and get a good idea of where that trunk release handle is, what it looks like, how it feels, how hard you have to pull it, ya know just get familiar with it, JUST SO THAT YOU KNOW!! It’s always better safe than sorry!!!!!
