Black people are likely serving life sentences for that same crime IN PORTLAND.

A system built to destroy black lives continues to flourish.

If your legalization activism ignores this reality, your legalization activism is self-serving bullshit.

Hey, this is a reminder that a good way to help fight against the disproportionate growth of white-owned dispensaries is by supporting black-owned dispensaries and growers!

In Portland specifically there’s Panacea in Northeast. One of the co-founders used to sit on the board for the Minority Cannabis Business Association, which is a cool organization aimed at educating and helping non-white folx build up their cannabis business.

Considering Oregon’s racist history, I’m not really surprised that I’m struggling to find other black-owned dispensaries/growers here, though there are a couple in Washington and some in D.C. Check out this list of black-owned cannabis-related businesses and throw them some support if you can!

Hey this is SUPER GREAT. I know I need to start being really conscious of this as a smoker. Also yes. Portland is OVERWHELMINGLY white and we need to be doing our best to assist POCs whom have been historically targeted by this racist bullshit.
