Heads up – Safe Mode will soon be auto-enabled.

For everyone.

Via email update (emphasis added):

Last year we introduced Safe Mode, which filters sensitive content in your dashboard and search results so you have control over what you see and what you don’t. And now that it’s been out for a while, we want to make sure everyone has the chance to try it out.

Over the next couple weeks, you might see some things in your dashboard getting filtered. If you like it that way, that’s great. If you don’t, no problem. You can go back by turning off Safe Mode any time.

Don’t get me wrong, I recognize that this feature is a good one to offer! It’s also important for it to be auto-enabled for blogs with underage users. What I don’t understand is why Tumblr apparently intends to auto-enable Safe mode for everyone. I have some tags blacklisted, and am not sure if I’d notice the newly filtered posts. So if I hadn’t seen this email, I might be missing out on some kickass fics, art, and edits from blogs that primarily post that type of content!

Anyway, if you, like me, enjoy the nsfw or otherwise sensitive posts you see on your dash, and don’t particularly want to miss said content … you might want to keep an eye on your account settings.

Signal boosting. And because I wouldn’t have FOUND the damn Safe Mode settings if I hadn’t followed the link in the email, here are the instructions for turning it off.
