amazing how since ive been on tumblr ive seen hundreds of posts abt how there aren’t ever any lgbt rom coms and how we never get to see ourselves in that capacity on the big screen and wouldnt it be great, but now there’s one coming out that’s brilliant and funny and warm and respectful, directed by a mlm, and written by a woman who has worked with lgbt teens for years (who she consulted during the writing process), youre gonna boycott it because aforementioned writer is straight???? nah, miss me with that shit.

let me just spell it out real quick: if this film does badly, studios are going to notice and they’re not going to make more mainstream lgbt films. if it does well, they are going to notice and make more mainstream lgbt films.

at the end of the day, think of the teenage kids who have never seen themselves on the big screen like this. think of the kids who have never seen themselves represented. think of the kids who will at last be able to identify. think of the kids who are keeping the same secret and feeling hopeless but might see this film and then maybe more like it if it does well and feel like maybe there’s a little bit of hope.

What film tho

love, simon
