ok you’re allowed to criticize love simon, and there ARE things that should be criticized, but one thing we’re not gonna do is criticize it for “making it look so easy” “his parents are accepting right away :// not realistic lol” its. supposed to be lighthearted. thats the entire point of a movie in this genre, which is romcom. its not supposed to be a serious movie. and i really don’t know why people are acting like there aren’t already 5847 movies out there that you can go watch about how nobody is accepting and the main characters life is hell, but a movie like this? for lgbt people? its very rare and its refreshing. let lgbt people finally enjoy a light, cute, funny movie that respectfully ties in with our experiences for once

im just going to add that i, for one, would like to see a blockbuster movie about gays that doesnt end in heartbreak, that doesnt end in death for one of the two, that allows for them to live happily ever after, that doesnt have copious amounts of angst. if love, simon is that, then youre damn right im going to see that shit.

i’d also like to add a hot take: some people have parents (like me) who were very accepting and did everything they could to learn about lgbt issues, it’s not unrealistic just because it’s not your story. it’s refreshing to see good parents who are supportive and accepting media, rather than painting all parents as homophobic assholes who don’t care about their kids.
