Kanye meant that slavery was a choice in the sense of blacks not revolting against slavemasters. It’s a choice whether or not a person wants to go against the grain, even when they’re getting their asses beat and raped. So yes it was a choice that led to our society today kinda harsh and hard to accept, but let’s not forget about gullah wars. Not all blacks had a “pussy” mentality.

you ever wonder why they broke up families? why they “sold the mother up the river, and the son down”?
because the plantations were a network. if one was overthrown,by the mother up river, her son would be tortured and killed downriver. One particular real instance, that i noticed isnt taught in the states, but ask Afro cubans about it, there was a rebellion in Cuba , a slave rebellion and loads of white people died. but were they freed? no. because Spain and France sent for reinforcements, the slaves were mostly unarmed save for farming tools, which cant withstand bullets or canon fire, and oh, the survivors of the “retaking” of Cuba, had to watch their babies raped, or hear of their grandfathers, or kids, (secret)wives (remember we couldnt legally be married) and everyone we cared for , murdered across the way in Jamaica.
TLDR: basically if shit popped off across the street, the other slave holders would round up the people under their control and await orders. if shit got bad enough they;d “sacrifice” (rape maim torture and kill) their captive…CAPTIVES. and since slaves had zero way of communicating between the colonies and plantations, they had zero ways of knowing when to strap up best they could. but white people did. whites had messengers, bells, horns, go betweens, you name it. because they weren’t kept as cattle, and were allowed to enjoy the gifts of literacy.
there were MANY successful slave rebellions. however, look at the countries that undertook those glories, namely, Haiti. Haiti has France STILL mad AF. and they’re still suffering because of it. Some of the most disgustingly disadvantaged countries were the ones to overthrow Europes white supremacist conquests. and thats not a mistake.
So please, disabuse yourselves of the idea that kidnapped black people sang a jaunty tune, and did shit else during our enslavement. take a match to that “noble slave” narrative, and read “the slaves remember”
to get a fresh idea of the Hell on earth that was the translantic slave trade. and for the love of god stop giving me second-hand embarrassment.
I see someone needs to visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture. If you think there were no uprisings, you are wrong.
