A user played a blank card threatening to shoot up a certain school. Another player in the match reported it to the FBI, and, due to the legal costs racking up against the person running the servers, PYX has been closed.
It wasn’t the admin’s fault, it was a dumb player who has since been arrested.
Why did the admin have legal trouble? That’s like apple getting sued for someone using an iPhone to call in a bomb threat.
The admin is in no legal trouble. They were contacted by the FBI and police department of the area of the school mentioned, who asked about subpoena to get the information they needed of the round, who played the card, and any chat messages. They decided to cooperate without making authorities get the order from a judge to get all the info, and even went about sorting through everything themselves. It’s time consuming, and they dont want to deal with repeating this given other people may do this and then require investigations on which threats are credible or not, and sort through many more rounds. It’s more like the cellular company being asked to send copies of conversations when someone makes a bomb threat.
