The National Museum of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro consumed in fire.

Over 20 milion articles of culture lost, among which were vast records of biodiversity in flora and fauna, especially insects from what I’ve gathered. Egyptian mummies, other mediterranean artifacts from greco-roman culture, numerous dinosaur fossils. The museum apparently had no sprinkler system and was is great need of restoration. Due to heavy budget cuts, none of that happened and now it’s too late.
