As you may have heard tumblr recently ‘killed the links’, making it so that any post that has any link on it (even if it links to tumblr posts or tags) will not show up in the /search/ function.

Well, I’ve got some GOOD NEWS for you. The /tagged/ function still works just fine. The bad news is the tumblr mobile app ONLY uses the /search/ function. The GOOD NEWS is the /tagged/ function has always displayed 33% more content than the /search/ function. Yup, you heard that right. If you were only using the mobile app, you were already missing out on TONS of content.

TAGGED VS SEARCH

/tagged/ function = tumblr.com/tagged/tag name

This is what most people refer to by ‘looking in the tag’. It only populates posts that have the tag name within the first 5 tags. If you’re posting alot, it will oftentimes only show your last 3 posts in a given tag to prevent you from spamming it. It’s very accurate.

/search/ function = tumblr.com/search/word

This searches all words in a given post, including the first 20 tags and the entire text of the post itself. The mobile app only uses the /search/ function and is missing 33% of what is available in the /tagged/ function. So if you only use the mobile app, you are literally missing 1/3 of what the fandom is posting. This is why I only use the more accurate /tagged/ function. Unfortunately, this is also referred to as ‘looking in the tag’ when it is not actually looking in the tag but ‘looking in the word search’.

I’ve actually avoided the /search/ function for years because of these problems. I only use the /tagged/ function but it is a bit harder to use on a mobile browser which is why I only look in the tags using my desktop computer. At least now you can still FIND all the content you might have missed.

Y’all know the reason Japan’s birthrate is declining rapidly is because of their nightmarish work environments and sexism and not because of anime right

you guys are just kidding about that

witches on this site who act like walmart selling witch costumes and starbucks making ‘witch’s brew’ drinks is cultural appropriation and then go n steal up bits of native american, african, african american, etc. culture… save everyone the time n just say ur racists!

They also love forgetting the people persecuted the most during the witch trials were Jewish/RRomani or just Not White in Europe

Hello everyone I love Ralsei like everyone else but here’s my Hot New theory…

Ralsei isn’t the prince of dark prophecised in the story.

Lancer is.

Ralsei has no subjects and didn’t even recognize any of the kings in the Card Castle Dungeons. Seeing as how he’s a prince, you’d think he’d recognize his dad or mom in the cage.. But he didn’t.

Lancer, however, IS an actual prince, AND helped the Fun Gang seal the fountain.

here is an idea: normalise the idea that adopting kids is a valid option even for parents who could conceive a child themselves, and not just an inferior backup option for parents who can’t

Just coming from an adopted kid, the benefits of adoption:
-When your kid asks where they come from you can literally say you pre-ordered them and waited for them to come in. My dad always equated picking me up from the hospital to ordering a sofa at k-mart and it always made me laugh. No need to explain pregnancy till they’re older.
-Your child will always know it was wanted and on purpose. My parents waited 5 years for me. They waited. For me to be born. I was wanted, from the moment I came into this world, by the people who raised me.
-You don’t have to pay for pregnancy or birth. Just adoption fees. No thirty thousand dollar hospital bill.
-You don’t have to give birth, or be pregnant, both of which objectively suck.
-The biological parents of that baby will be so happy that there is someone in the world who is willing to watch over their child. The relief that comes with that is overwhelming.
-You’re saving a child’s life that would otherwise potentially be stuck in the adoption and foster system for their entire childhood.

I’ve always heard arguments about wanting the baby to be ‘yours’ but really. My parents are my parents. Just because I don’t share their DNA doesn’t mean I’m not theirs. When it comes right down to it, blood of the bond is thicker than water of the womb.

PSA for the undertale fandom since a lot of ya’ll dont seem to know (or care).

TUMBLR JUST KILLED LINKS

Yes, you read it right.

As of today, November 17, 2018, any post with links, any links, even to other tumblr posts, just don’t show up anymore in tumblr’s search engine.

I just found out about it, after I posted a fic with a link to my masterlist and it got little to no notes (it shuldn’t). I was right – the moment I deleted the links, my post magically appeared in the search again. Wow.

Please spread the word to warn the others.

This affects artists who want to cross promote their work, writers who want to link to previous chapters or to a masterlist, and editors who want to link to their YouTube channels, among just a few. This new policy will kill content creators’ ability to spread their work, and for what? A poor attempt to use the algorithm to crack down on porn bots and scammers? Sad.

In the meantime, here’s what I suggest: post your work with no added links, and tell people to check the notes for your masterlist, story navigation, links to ko-fi, patreon, and other social media sites. Make sure you have all those things ready, then paste it into a reblog and have people access them that way. It’s stupid, but it’s a work around we’ll have to use until tumblr gets their act together.

Reblogging again because I need advice on creating masterpost links.
