when im playing out a daydream scenario in my head and i catch myself trying to rush to The Good Part™:

Emelie being in a coma/being dead is because the peacock Miraculous is broken.

Like Hawkmoth mentioned.

I mean it did change quite a bit in the face from the concept art to in the show when Natalie was Mayura. I know it does change often from the before to what is actually in the show, but the face in the concept art looked nothing like Natalie.

They could be showing Natalie trying to take Emile’s place and use this as a parallel.
