and also potentially consider that staff literally does not give a fuck about either of these things and is just shamelessly writhing against having been removed from some app store or what the fuck ever
It’s clear there is not a good reason to remain on the platform. This article points out several factors which will encourage users to stay, such as monetization of their blogs.
As others have said in this article, you would only be giving your creativity a slow death.
Our activism and communities are going to be profits from here on out. It’s not a matter of if but when. It is no longer a matter of remaining on the platform through these changes or leaving because we cannot stand “not having our porn”.
As this article explores, it’s so much more than that.
Leaving Tumblr is standing in solidarity with small businesses, sex workers, sex advice columnists, educational advocates, Black Lives Matter, and every other corporate unwanted who makes selling ads hard for a multibillion dollar company.
Every person on tumblr has been a metric that wasn’t easy. It was so hard on my family to accept me when I came out as gay. My mother will cry when I come out as trans. My extended family could invite me to Thanksgiving if only I made it easier on them and went to church.
I don’t have to be something I’m not before I’m wanted!
Verizon wants to sell ads to us. They want us to buy their corporate bullshit for things we don’t need and say it makes us better not to be the things they don’t want! To swallow down our sexuality and our right to our bodies with a new iPhone.
And Verizon didn’t do shit when we complained about abused children until Apple took them off their store.
I can’t use this platform knowing they monetized the act of stopping the victimization and abuse of children.
They shoved the date of their plans forward, plans for all explicit content, in a huff. Because they were losing money.
Because their platform was being used to victimize and abuse children.
And they still haven’t stopped it! They still don’t care to learn! They aren’t doing anything but shoving a bandaid over an infected wound and saying they fixed it so they can add another billion to their bankroll while fucking over all those vulnerable activists they wanted to convert into cash.
Fuck you Verizon.
So I’ll be slowly going through and archiving my account, deleteing all posts and permanetly leaving Tumblr.

but my parents are homophobic and recently kicked me out of their home. I’m a full time college student and will be renting a place for winter break in my college town. Since they kicked me out I have no vehicle and only the funds I’ve saved the past year. I have an emotional support cat (named Beef) and am on anxiety meds that have made a previously debilitating mood disorder stable.
