There are n*zis on campus rn and a student brought out like a 1997 boombox and started blasting Taking The Hobbits to Isengard every time they tried to say something.
“Those who do not share our genes -THE HOBBITS THE HOBBITS THE HOBBITS THE HOBBITS – THE MASTER RACE – TO ISENGARD TO ISENGARD – AND I BELIEVE –
THE HOBBITS THE HOBBITS THE-”
Chaotic good
In Jewish tradition, one of our holidays is called Purim. It celebrates the defeat of an antisemitic political advisor to a king who liked to prowl the streets ranting his hatred. Part of the story of Purim involves the people being ranted at inventing a special kind of noisemaker to drown him out.
Basically what I’m saying is this student is following a grand tradition whether they realize it or not and they should be proud.
not only is Purim about drowning out fascists, it’s about doing so in the most absurd and embarrassing ways possible! fascism thrives on an aura of invincibility, and it’s hard to hold onto that when people keep making farting sounds every time you open your mouth
so really, weaponized memes are PERFECTLY in keeping with the Purim spirit
Have I watched the movie in the last decade or more? No. Do I have iron clad evidence to support my argument? Yes.
1. She’s the most knowledgeable about candy. She’s committed to it, and knows her stuff. When Wonka holds up a little yellow piece across the room, she recognizes it immediately. She was able to switch to candy bars for the sake of the contest, so we know she has personal discipline and is goal oriented. Also, two major projects play directly into her strong suits: the 3-course-meal gum that Wonka failed to make safe (gum) and the neverending gobstopper (longevity).
2. She’s the most fit to run a business. Violet is competitive, determined, hard working, and willing to take risks. Her father is a small town car salesman and politician, so she could easily pick up knowledge and support from him. (Veruca’s dad is also a business man, and in a compatible market (nuts), but it’s made very clear that Veruca has no respect or knowledge of business practices or hard work.)
3. She’s the most sympathetic to the Oompa Loompas. She critiques Veruca when Veruca demands to buy one. More importantly, Wonka has been testing the 3-course-meal gum that ‘always goes wrong’ on Oompa Loompas while he presumably just watches. Violet is ready to put herself on the front line, instead of treating the Oompa Loompas as disposable, and would therefore be a better boss.
4. Her personality ‘flaw’ is the most fitting for the company. In the moralizing Oompa Loompa song, they just say ‘gum is pretty cool, but it’s not socially acceptable to chew it all day‘. The thing is, we already know that she can stop if she wants, because she already did that to win the golden ticket. And yeah, she is defensive about the perceived impoliteness of her hobby (like when her mother tries to shame her about her habit during a televised interview) but the obsession with candy and neglect of social norms is EXACTLY what Wonka is all about. This is on brand.
5. Her misstep in the factory is reasonable. Wonka shows everyone a candy he’s very proud of. Violet is like “oh sick, that’s gum, my special interest.” Wonka is then pulls a “WRONG! It’s amazing gum!” So in the very moments before she takes the gum Wonka has mislead her just to belittle her. So when he’s like “I wouldn’t do that” why should she give a shit what he has to say? She’s not like Charlie over here who’s all “Sure Gramps, let’s stay behind while the tour leaves and secretly drink this thing that has been explicitly stated to fill you with gas and is too powerful for safe consumption, oh and also I just saw what happened to Violet so I actually KNOW what this stuff can be capable of” Also, Violet is not selfish about her experience, she tells everyone what she’s tasting and feeling, and everyone is eager to hear it. Taking a personal risk to share knowledge with everyone. Violet is Prometheus: fact.
So Augustus contaminates the chocolate river. Charlie sneaks around and contaminates the vent walls. Veruca destroys and disrupts the workspace. Mike knows exactly what will happen to him and transports/shrinks himself deliberately. Violet had no idea what the gum could potentially do to her, and caused no harm to anyone or anything but herself.
Lastly: Can you imagine Charlie filling Wonka’s shoes? That passive, naive boy? Violet is already basically Wonka. She’s passionate, sarcastic, candy-obsessed, free thinking, and a total firecracker. She’s even better than Wonka, because she doesn’t endanger others.
Violet should’ve been picked to inherit the chocolate factory.
Violet didn’t win because Wonka didn’t want someone he couldn’t mold into being exactly like that him. That’s why he didn’t want an adult to inherit the factory; he wanted someone who would follow him unquestioningly, so Violet, even though she is without a doubt the best candidate and even reflect Wonka in a lot of ways, didn’t get picked
Y’know there’s a part of me that hopes Mari gets akumatized, and then later all of Lila’s lies are exposed so that the class can see how they made Mari felt.
But tbh- the fact that Adrien looked really pissed off (though supposedly it was an “animation error” but idk if that’s true) bothers me a little. Idk I just can’t- see why they made him like that. It’s not really his character? He’s been so passive these two seasons it doesn’t really make sense that SUDDENLY he gets aggressive? Through Chloe’s bitchiness and Lila literally being exposed about lying to him he just shrugged it off- but suddenly he’s angry at Marinette?
Speaking of Chloe- I kinda hope that smile was a “holy shit I didn’t think Marinette had that in her WOW” kind of smile. I also hope that SOMEONE feels bad and sits with Marinette in the back?
Alright alright aaaalright, I KNOW we shouldn’t judge based on a sneak peek but oof
Big OOF
First of all, Alya, girl, you literally had NO right to give up Mari’s seat for Nino, lmao, what
You were supposed to be her BESTIE. You’ve failed me.
Nino knew far too well that was Mari’s seat and he shouldn’t take it without waiting for her to get to school and ask her but ya know, gf > friends apparently
Adrien, lmao, I swear to God you’re gonna get the biggest ass whoopin of your life if ya dare say one single bad thing about Marinette
Oh and Lila. Lila deserves to be throw into a hole and left there to rot because honestly liars and manipulative people make me sick to the point I want to throw up
As for the rest of the class, yall deserve
-Akumatized Marinette fuckin yall up
-Chloe herself shaming yall for siding with Lila
-Marinette never helpin your sorry asses again
-Luka and Kagami siding with Marinette after they catch her crying around and beatin you up with a guitar and slice you up with a sword
It would be
great to see Marinette snap in Chameleon.
And no, I don’t
mean it in a ‘yeah, for her to be akumatized’ kinda way. I mean actually call
people out.
She refused
to sit.
Instead? Marinette
takes her time, staring at every single one of her classmates dead in the eye.
Her eyes no
longer seem to belong to her. Where there was kindness, there’s now a hard look
that few dare to compare to the girl who wears a polka-dotted suit, swinging
and running and jumping around Paris while protecting its citizens.
The glares
she’s receiving waver.
Marinette closes
her eyes, takes a deep breath, and starts walking down until she’s by Madame
Bustier’s side, purposely ignoring the older woman.
And starts addressing
everyone.
Marinette’s
words are sharp like daggers. She makes them remember what she has done for her
so called friends in the room. How she has risked her time for them. In some
occasions, her own safety and place in the school.
Also, you know what I fear? I fear that the reason why that Akuma was about to akumatize Marinette while she was seating in a bathroom stall, it’s because she was crying, alone and heartbroken, in it, because of something else happening to her during lunch, most definitely something caused by Lila to more have her be seen under a bad light from her class and friend, which has her run away to the bathroom to cry in shame.
It has already happened before in other episodes for people to get Akumatized in that same spot for similar reasons, after all.
And I swear if this actually happens, I’m going to cut someone.
In the light of the new Miraculous Ladybug Season 3 trailer, I thought I’d remind everyone I can’t stand Lila. Like, never has a truthful word come from her mouth, she willingly allied with Hawkmoth because of jealousy, she has no respect for Adrien or his boundaries, etc. I just really don’t like her.
Marinette contacts Lila’s parents with concerns that her lying is negatively impacting the class, complete with recordings of the lies. They make her confess and apologize to the entire class. Her family and the class are now immediately suspect of the person that its apparently public knowledge got themselves akumatized because of their own lies (remember Sapotis? I do, Alya).
Why Marinette doesn’t just play along with Lila’s lie.
Now hear me out because I can hear the protests boiling. We all know Lila is a crazy amazing liar and manipulator, a person who is so committed to her stories she would go the extra mile to actually find and purchase a piece of expensive jewelry to support her lie of being a Miraculous Holder. We can also see she can make up lies at the drop of a hat if anyone just so happens to see or try and poke holes in her story.
In my experience, you don’t fight these kind of people, you flow with them. Even a professional juggler can’t keep juggling if you throw too many items at him.
What Marinette should do is just pretend to go with the Lila then play on it. Keep asking Lila questions disguised as enthusiastic interest, PURPOSELY keep pushing her to keep stockpiling on lies, rapidly plugging up holes. At some point the lie will get so big even Lila’s gonna start feeling the pressure and then…
She will slip, and get careless.
The holes in her story are now too big to plug, the lies are too many to maintain! People are starting to doubt her and eventually… The pressure will break her! Destroying the sly little bitch to pieces!!!!
I hope something like this happens in the end of the episode.
Marinette (as Ladybug, who the class still thinks is best friends with Lila) tells everyone about how her best friend Lila told her that she was going to fake a hearing problem to sit next to the guy she had a crush on.
The class trusts Ladybug, and if Ladybug is Lila’s best friend why would she lie about it? Now Lila either has to admit she lied about being friends with Ladybug, or admit she faked her hearing problem
