WHOEVER MADE THIS I LOVE YOU AND I HOPE YOUR FRIDGE IS ALWAYS FULL
It’s weird because like, even the movie footage itself has their skin darker than the merchandise- it’s REALLY weird- the bottom one looks much more natural!
I just love the whole “Aurora’s dress is fucking blue okay” aspect
And Cinderella’s was white.
😀
Ariel’s was pink!
AND CINDERELLA FINALLY HAS HER STRAWBERRY BLONDE HAIR BACK
‘It’s weird’ is code for ‘wow whitewashing is real’
My baby pochahontas finally looks like her skin wasn’t douced in bleach.
Turbo from Ralph is good and unexpected villian too and with good subtle hints as well.
Thisthisthisthisthis
You can’t just make a character start being evil with no explanation or foreshadowing or any character hints whatsoever. It makes the viewer feel cheated.
King Candy was already a good villain to begin with, coming off more as a well-intentioned extremist. He gave Ralph what he wanted up front with no strings attached, and then convinced him that doing something bad was indeed for the greater good, then came the twist that he was lying the whole time.
Revealing the fact that he has a secret identity was the icing on the cake.
what is the purpose of the lion king remake. its the same damn movie animated in 3d with realistic animals instead of 2d. what can cgi convey that 2d cant in the story of the lion king? what new thing does this bring to the story? how does it improve on it? it doesnt. both this and the jungle book are just worse ways to tell the original stories due to the limits of realistic animal facial structures and movement. we all need to stop falling for disneys new trick of just remaking Everything to profit off of your nostalgia while not taking any risks. all of hollywood is currently in this era where everything is a remake sequel or adaptation bc its riskless easy money. i find it hard to count all the original stories that came out in the past few years, and this lion king remake truly feels like the worst insult yet. i beg you all to not support these movies no matter who stars in them or how good they are, we cant just let studios be lazy and uninspired and turn away original stories to profit off of people by selling us what we already know and love over and over again
They said “live action remake” so that means either you get real lions and do it Homeward Bound style or you put cat ears on Beyonce, not this bullshit
Opposites attract dads, bond over show-tunes, their son, and avoiding near death situations
flaming (lol) bisexual Frenchman and uptight British guy who raise their bratty man-child ward and get so annoyed at each other they get married
college roommates that lived together so long it just sort of happened
raise street urchins for no reason other than seeing them and being like ‘??? you don’t have a place to stay?? that’s fucked up, come home with us’
I thought the black panther was female
nope
Also, a worthy mention with them:
You forgot Jumba and Pleakly
you’re right!!
two of Lilo’s many fathers, combine to form an unholy mix of science-dad jokes between them, highest form of twink/bear relationship
I want to point out that I once saw a reimagining of the Jungle Book taking place in an urban city (a danish slangterm for “urban” is “storbys jungle” which literally means “big city jungle”, and in that version, not only are Baloo and Bagheera dating, but Bagheera is a beautiful drag queen dressed in black leather
Whats up with Hei Hei in some of the Moana promo art and posters? Like
And like
And even????
He’s so angry and ready to Throw Down
But then in actuality he’s just
Disney explain
I went to the “Behind the Scenes” panel for Moana at CTN expo this year and the explanation is as follows:
In development, HeiHei used to be a character meant to be Moana’s watchdog. He stands to the side making sure she stays out of trouble (and away from the sea) and judges her (sort of like Flint the hummingbird from Pocahontas) but the directors were worried that it made him too unlikeable. John Lasseter gave the crew about 48 hours to think of a way to figure out how to save his character or else he’d be cut from the film. So instead HeiHei’s IQ was lowered waaaay down, making him more lovable and funny. During a story pitch in which Moana had to retrieve the Heart of Te Fiti from the Kakamora, she originally only retrieved the stone. The artists reboarded it exactly the same except HeiHei swallowed it and the Kakamora was lugging around a chicken instead and it instantly made everything more hilarious. To which Lasseter exclaimed at that moment: “THE CHICKEN LIVES!” an inside joke that was kept at the end of the film when the ocean spat HeiHei onto the shore and Maui remarks “the chicken lives!”
best thing about this movie was the perfectly marketed/polished commercial animal side kick just waiting to be the new olaf and then its in the movie for like 3 mins tops and instead a chicken that eats rocks gets to be the disney animal companion™
IT GETS BETTER.
Once they rewrote the character they were in a panic. Who could voice such a role?
None other than Alan Tudyk, known as “Walt Disney Studios’ lucky charm” due to his roles as Duke in Frozen, King Candy in Wreck-It Ralph and KTSO in Rogue One, who made the front freaking page of the Wall Street Journal due to his performance.
Tudyk says: “The character you’re playing, even though he’s a rooster and is really
stupid, you approach it in the same way you would approach Hamlet,
which is exactly how I approached it. But they give you the
circumstances. “You’re on the boat. You didn’t expect to be here. You
just climbed in a boat to maybe sleep. You don’t even know why you
climbed in the boat. You’re really that dumb. Every three minutes is a
new world to you, so you see that you’re trapped on this boat, and you
freak out. Go.”
Note: Tudyk went to Julliard.
Also: Alan Tudyk is the only non-Pasifika/Maori person in the voice cast. He plays the chicken.
disney concept art: the most beautiful dynamic original thing i have ever seen
disney finished project: rubber same face minimalism regurgitated plots

final version:
What makes me so mad is that snow queen is such a lovely tale and there was an evil mirror that shattered and froze the queen’s heart. So the first thing the newly evil queen does is PLUNGE THE KINGDOM INTO ETERNAL WINTER.
And the kid Anna is based off of is actually this sweet peasant girl who is rescuing her best friend whom everyone else thought drowned and whom no one cared for because mirror shards got in his eyes and he only saw beauty in snowflakes while everything else was just disgustingly foul to him. Except he didn’t drown because he was whisked away by the snow queen.
Like this girl gives her shoes to the river to find out he didn’t drown. Her hair ribbons to the birds to find out who took him. Works her hands raw to get to him and has to suffer a mental breakdown because she got SO FUCKING CLOSE to saving him and he won’t even look at her because he wants to solve this puzzle the snow queen gave him.
And then her sobbing wakes him up and he cries and washes the shards from his eyes and the fact that she saved him is enough to melt the snow queens heart and she brings spring back to the kingdom.
There’s one (1) think in Disney’s Mulan that irks me. The jaw line. Mulan’s jaw line is drawn differently when she’s acting as Ping. No kidding:
this is her “regular, Fa Mulan” face. In this version her jaw is even highlighted by the makeup. Look how round is it.
and this is her Ping jaw. Square. Totally square.
WHY????? Isn’t consistency in the character base shapes like, an important thing??
Not to mention how she immediately regains her long lashes as soon as she is exposed. With her round jaw obviously.
?????
That feel when you’re Asian and your father with a bad leg was about to be sent off to surely die in a war for your great empire so you squared up both metaphorically and physically.
it’s on the fricking vhs cover
this has bothered me since 1999
Why do you have to come for Mulan like this
It’s called contour sweetie
It literally changes in the same scene though, like literally:
Their Moana is very talented, and their Maui is a local newscaster whose daughters made him audition!
Rachel House still voices Grandma Tala, Temuera Morrison still voices the Chief, and Jemaine Clement still voices Tamatoa.
Rob Ruha and Jemaine Clement translated and rearranged the music so that the songs still worked while sung in a different language, which is super impressive.
this news is from earlier this year, you can now actually listen/watch the te reo version in clips on youtube now. this one is pretty exemplary of the original and new voice actors together! ❤
