When you date all the dad’s and get small peeks into her character and find out that she’s actually pretty complex and deals with a lot of complicated issues.
i normally don’t get involved in discourse shit but i’m genuinely frustrated with tumblr spreading misinformation about dream daddy. this is probably one of the most solid pieces of lgbt representation i’ve come across pretty much ever, but you get all these self righteous assholes literally nitpicking things that aren’t even true to be mad about without even giving this game a chance.
like i’ve seen people boycotting it because the game grumps were involved but all they did was provide the voicework and the funding—snubbing this game hurts the lgbt developers and doesn’t really affect gg at all, so no one is really proving a point by pirating or just flat out not buying the game.
i’ve also seen people parroting datamined and most likely inaccurate info that literally thousands and thousands of people who have played the game have not been able to access, claiming the game’s supposed ending for one character means the devs “hate gay people” and “don’t want gay people to be happy.”
like can y’all just take a step back and fucking chill? i’m not saying this game shouldn’t be criticized or that you can’t even dislike it, but it is extremely disheartening to come across a game with a largely lgbt development team with an lgbt audience in mind getting shredded to hell and back on the basis of misinformation so if you’re going to find something to hate about it at least check your facts first.
this happens all the time tho like anytime something has good rep it gets SOOOO over scrutinized like think about it ppl had to HACK THE GAME to find something to complain about its nuts how far people are gonna go to make something that could be good for us out to be shitty
well tumblr in general loves to hate everything that becomes popular, so with the release of dream daddy people started digging back through old game grumps content to find a reason to hate them (including going back to arin’s newground days, which is literally over a decade ago), and seeing as how they’ve made over 5000 unscripted videos, there’s of course bound to be some ‘problematic’ stuff.
and look, i won’t deny that gg have said some ignorant things in the past, but they’ve apologized, and improved a lot. also, some of the stuff people are accusing them of is kinda fucked up, like calling them anti-semitic, or straight up nazi’s, when at least 2-3 of the prominent members are jewish
either way, even if you dislike game grumps, torrenting dream daddy is not going to hurt them. however, it will hurt the development team (which consist of mostly lgbt people), and our chances of getting similar games in the future.
