hey blythe i know your intentions are good but this… isn’t true? the content that this person is discussing is allegedly “in the code,” but not one of the thousands and thousands of people who’s played the game has been able to access it or play it. if anything, the clearest conclusion to draw here is that the developers (the majority of whom are lgbt) had originally planned some sort of horror thread and then ultimately decided it was in poor taste and scrapped it before it was fully developed, but some of the assets remained in the code.

i don’t know anything about game grumps and i don’t have any personal investment in DD apart from that a longtime mutual of mine, @bevsi, was on the art team and she’s really excited about the work she’s done. i played one route today after a recommendation from a friend and i was totally blown away by how empathetic and deep and rich and satisfying the whole experience was. like, i am a gay author and i’ve devoted a significant amount of time both to writing and reading gay lit, and i’ve never, ever witnessed storytelling like this.

so it’s just weird and upsetting to me to see this rumour being passed around by well-meaning people who haven’t played the game because like… it is such a total misrepresentation of what the game actually is, which is a really well-crafted and sweet and affirming piece of lgbt media by lgbt creators. this is the kind of thing we’ve been s t a r v i n g for and i’m very wary of this day one backlash and instant effort to shut the whole thing down.

For those not reading through the notes: it turns out that the leftover assets in the code were likely for a halloween DLC later down the line– Barely scripted, broken assets,  And not canon, as its basically a big hatoful boyfriend parody ending that they scrapped. Stop spreading misinfo about the datamines!
