People keep saying that Detective Pikachu is going to have the obligatory almost-swear-but-cut-away-last-second joke, and it almost certainly is going to do that
But I can’t stop thinking about the fact that the movie IS PG-13
Meaning they can get away with saying fuck once and keep it PG-13
Reverse cut-a-way.
Detective Pikachu is in a room with normal humans who can’t understand him. He stubs his toe really hard.
We get like 30 seconds of very loud angry “Pi pika pika pipipika kakapika pipi-” then the main character walks in and we just hear the deep detective pikachu voice go “-FUCK!”
I had the delightful opportunity to do all the storyboards and character designs for this neat project, and the team at MASHED did SO GOOD!!!!! These are just some of the designs, boards, and preproduction work that i’ve been DYING to share with you guys!! Please check out the video ITS SO GOOD!!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
piranha plant is legitimately a better addition to smash than fire-fighting starter pokemon #48320
i have just been informed that incineroar, the fucking pokemon thats based on wrestlers, knows a bunch of wrestling and fighting attacks, looks like this
and is constantly seen in wrestling ring
is not fire-fighting, but fire-dark
hes dark type because hes a heel
a what
in professional wrestling a heel is a wrestler acting as the villain, being rude and underhanded
in fact incineroar is called the Heel Pokemon
badguy wrestler
think more Stone Cold or Brock Lesnar rather than John Cena
He’s meant to draw the ire of the audience
If he isn’t getting under your skin he’s doing a bad job
Dark is Evil in Japan, therefore he is a Fire Evil type.
Also you could go further into wrestling terminalogy and say that the heel usually gets the heat of the babyface and then the babyface makes a comeback.
He’s the big heel of the pokemon universe, and he’s based off of one the most popular Japanese Junior heavyweights of all time’s arch rival the Black Tiger.
this is so dumb hes still based on wrestlers
wrestling is very much not fighting tho
If you wanna go really meta, the whole pokemon community was so done with fire/fighting types, especially after getting a break in the form of Braixen, that seeing Incineroar made everybody go apeshit
And then he was revealed to be a dark type instead of fighting
That’s a cool theory, I hadn’t heard that one. I think it makes sense for Machoke to gain another set of arms, because they needed to make the already strong Machoke even stronger, so what do you do? Give it another set of buff arms! But it makes less sense to me that Graveler would lose its arms, and Golem’s reptilian face does seem to come from nowhere.
The Karrablast/Shelmet comparison seems pretty accurate. I googled the theory and an old reddit thread came up with this image, to help illustrate it for others.
Is there a similar theory for Gengar and Alakazam?Â
Cool theory, thanks for sharing it with me!
@theriomancer That’s true, good point! If you want to extend this idea, there’s several Gen 1 lines where the final evolution resembles a different Pokemon line, like the Butterfree/Venomoth theory, or the Gyarados/Dragonite theory.
@1128-nesecret Theories like these are discussed for the fun of it. The Machamp, Golem, Haunter, and Alakazam lines are often grouped together because they’re the four trade-only evolutions from the first gen. If two of the four could have a theoretical link, is there anything linking the other two? That’s the idea. I asked for the sake of fun, interesting discussion.
@skullroom I didn’t have any ideas, but some other people do!
