Salvation Army busted discriminating against transgender people (again)

With the holiday season coming up, a reminder that the salvation army is STILL homophobic transphobic garbage. Rather than donate to them, make a note of how much you would have donated to them while you were walking by because they were there, then give that money to a different charity you believe in.

Your yearly reminder that as a religious organization the Salvation Army is not required to release its financials, and they have repeatedly refused to do so, which is within their legal right but means you have only their word for where your money is going. But clearly the Salvation Army should not be trusted to be decent human beings, so why trust them with your donations? 

Also your yearly reminder that your options are not “The Salvation Army” or nothing; there is a vast constellation of charities for you to choose from in your holiday giving, and you will get more value for your dollar elsewhere. fellow texans: this is serious. if you’re in an area where you were told to evacuate, YOU NEED TO EVACUATE.

Some tips for those staying home to weather the storm [note: not everyone can afford to leave, or has anywhere to go to escape the storm. not everyone who stays lacks common sense, they just don’t have the funds, the transportation [disabled, no car, etc.], or family + friends to go anywhere else]:

  • Take a shower now, then fill your tub with water. You might need that water later to flush your toilet.
  • Make sure you’ve got an axe or something like it, because if you live in a low-lying area and the flood waters get into your house, you might end up needing to bust a hole in your roof to get out.
  • DO NOT SWIM IN FLOOD WATER. Flood waters carry sewage, diseases, toxins, and things like water moccasins, brown recluse spiders, floating ant beds, and more. It is not a pool.
  • Make sure you have extra batteries to power all of the things. Radios, flashlights, etc.
  • Make sure all of your devices are charged, and purchase charger packs if possible. There’s a high chance that we all lose power, and it could be out for weeks. Make sure your devices are able to last you for as long as possible.
  • Make sure you’ve filled your gas tank.
  • If you live in a low-lying area, make sure all important things like legal documents, photographs, and electronics are up high. If you live in a two story, go ahead and put them up there.
  • Don’t wait to evacuate until the last minute. If they say you need to leave, then LEAVE. If they haven’t, decide RIGHT NOW whether to stay or not. You don’t want to be caught out in the streets when they start to flood. Because they WILL flood.
  • A lot of hurricane/tropical storm/flash flood-related deaths happen after the storm has passed. People try to venture out into the waters and end up drowning. Make sure you have everything you need so you don’t have to leave your house for a few days. It will NOT be safe.

Okay that virus that’s going around, is seriously fucking scary. I got the same thing on my computer about a week ago and I got rid of it, but it took a lot. This type of virus can control your browser, it can control your webcam, it can control all your files, and track you.

If you’ve seen the post already, do not click on the user if someone like this follows you.

 If you do on accident, you will be taken to an FBI site, which tells you you’ve viewed pornography and stuff. Looks a little like this…

It asks you to pay a fine. ITS NOT REAL. DO NOT PAY IT. You won’t be able to leave the page, or close your browser. Your computer is probably infected now, and you need to remove it.

  1. Click ctrl-alt-delete at the same time and open task manager. Shut down your browser. Uninstall it completely. 
  2. Reset your computer to the last known date when you didn’t have the virus.  
  3. Install and Run malawarebytes. It’s a free service, that get’s rid of all bugs in your computer. The download link is here. Most antivirus softwares can’t detect things like this, so your best bet is to just download it. Run a full scan to ensure your computer is clean.
  4. Restart your computer, and you should be fine. 
  5. The main thing here is to not panic. I did, and it just makes the situation worse than it really is.  

If you have seen a post about it, you’ll see that icon, and a URL with random letters. Please don’t risk it, you’ll have to work really hard to get it off your computer. Be careful, and DO NOT PANIC. Here is another tutorial on how to get rid of it,
