Trump is trying to remove educational rights for those with ADHD! The deadline is 11:59 PM ET Wednesday September 20 2017!

Please we must protect those with ADHD. Trump is trying to pass executive order 13777 which will eliminate educational rights for students with ADHD, considering us a regulatory burden on the American people. We are not a burden! I urge you please write your congressional representative and leave a comment for the US department of education. The links to help you with this process is listed below.

ADHD is the most common mental health disorder among children and teens in the United States today. It affects the academic progress, social success, self-esteem, and overall happiness of 6.4 million American children. Without support and adequate services to mitigate ADHD symptoms in academic and social settings, a child may suffer poor grades, school failure, and long-term damage to self-esteem and learning.

Please take a couple minutes out of your time to help.

LAST DAY TO SUBMIT COMMENTS

Trump has signed an executive order, ordering the review of a bunch of regulations, among them the Dear Colleague Letter and Resource Guide on Students with ADHD, issued last year, which basically tells schools what ADHD looks like and how to adequately support students with ADHD, in order to be in compliance with federal laws ensuring students’ right to education and discrimination.

Reading the letter made me angry and sad, because if it had been written five years ago, I might have actually received treatment in school. If this letter is removed, the 11 million american children with ADHD (CDC statistic) will lose this vital resource, and school will be much more likely to violate federal law in not providing accommodations for students disabled by ADHD.

Please take a few minutes to submit a comment. Well-written, well-supported and scientific comments are more effective than form letters, but if you only have time/energy/attention span for a form letter, please please submit. It only takes a few minutes. And do it now, today’s the last day to comment.

It doesn’t take much time to fill this out and make a difference. If launching into the subject yourself seems intimidating, try taking a single paragraph from the form letter as a starting point and then adding on to it.

As someone with ADHD that utilizes the help provided to do the best she possibly can in an academic setting, don’t let Trump take that away from me. Don’t let him take it away from ALL of those with ADHD. Don’t let him take it away from *kids* with ADHD.

Don’t let him label us a fucking burden.
